We will explore the charming towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. For 4 days we’ll walk along the most stunning routes in the beautiful Winelands region and indulge in gourmet dishes and world-famous wines.

Fitness Level: You must be able to walk for a minimum of 3 hours per day (between 10 to 14 km) per day, with some uphill hikes and downhill descents.

Trip Itinerary (subject to change)

Day 1:

  • Check-in at Franschhoek Protea Hotel by 14:00.
  • Shuttle departure at 15:00 for Stellenbosch.
  • Late afternoon leisurely walk through the town centre of Stellenbosch.
  • Explore Stellenbosch, enjoy a wine tasting, and have our first dinner at an iconic restaurant.
  • Shuttle returns us to Franschhoek Protea Hotel.

Day 2:

  • After breakfast, toning exercises with Linda (optional).
  • Shuttle takes us to Stellenbosch.
  • Embark on a ± 10km walk through Stellenbosch and ascend Stellenbosch Mountain with a 430 metre elevation.
  • Conclude the walk at Coertzenburg for a stretching session.
  • Lunch at Helena’s.
  • Time to relax or further explore Stellenbosch.
  • Shuttle returns us to Franschhoek.
  • Dinner is at your own expense.

Day 3:

  • After breakfast, toning exercises with Linda (optional).
  • Shuttle takes us to a beautiful wine farm in Franschoek.
  • Enjoy a breathtaking 14km walk on the farm, followed by wine tasting and Cheese/Charcuterie platters for lunch.
  • Return to the hotel.
  • Evening free for you to explore Franschhoek.
  • Dinner is at your own expense.

Day 4:

  • After breakfast, toning exercises with Linda (optional).
  • Shuttle takes us to the starting point of our final challenging 12km hike with a 700 metre elevation.
  • Light lunch in Franschhoek.
  • Gala dinner at the award-winning Reuben’s restaurant in Franschhoek.

Day 5:

  • We bid farewell during breakfast and depart for home.

Linda Kriel will lead some optional stretching and toning exercises to keep you fit and happy. You’ll also have plenty of time to relax and enjoy yourself. And you’ll be treated to delicious, hearty meals cooked by the cordial camp chef.

The late afternoon game drive and short hike, to catch the stunning sunset and spot more animals is also a highlight of the day. At night, you’ll cozy up around the campfire with a glass of wine and swap stories with your fellow hikers. And when you’re ready to call it a day, you’ll sleep in cozy, warm beds that will make you feel right at home.

Duration: It’s a three-night trail with the two days in between spent walking. Starts on the Sunday afternoon to the Wednesday morning.

Meeting point: The group will gather at Satara Rest Camp, from where we’ll be transported to the private camp. A designated safe area is available for you to leave your car.

Group size: This is an exclusive trail for a small group of up to 6 people (8 with Linda and Adriaan). You’ll have the chance to bond with your fellow hikers and enjoy a more intimate experience of nature.

Accommodation: You’ll stay in one of four charming tented-camp style huts, each featuring two single beds. Please consider this when making your booking. Each hut comes with an ensuite bathroom equipped with a hot water shower and toilet. The trail camp is simple and authentic, offering you a true wilderness experience without electricity, generators, or cell phone reception. Linen and towels are provided for your convenience.

Fitness Level: Our pace during the Kruger walk is deliberately relaxed, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the natural surroundings and keep an eye out for wildlife alongside our experienced trail rangers. The morning hike spans approximately 3 hours, including a refreshing breakfast pause. In the late afternoon, a brief hike on our way to enjoy sundowners. For those inclined, additional exercises can be provided by Linda during the mid-morning bush break. Participation in these exercises is, of course, entirely optional and at your discretion. Due to the terrain covered and the safety factor, handicapped or injured persons should not participate in this trail. Two highly trained trail rangers will walk with us. One in front and the other at the back.

Nearest entrance gate: We’ll meet at Satara, and the nearest gate is Orpen Gate. This gate is approximately 48 kilometers from Satara Camp and provides a convenient entry point for visitors heading to this camp. The drive from Orpen Gate to Satara Camp typically takes around 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on road and wildlife viewing conditions.

Closest airport: The closest airport to Satara Camp in Kruger National Park is Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport (HDS). This airport is approximately 70 kilometers from Satara Camp. Skukuza Airport (SZK) is approximately 92 kilometers from Satara Camp in Kruger National Park.

Start: 13 April: Meet at Satara rest camp at 14:00 on day 1. Nearest entrance gate is Malelane. The rangers will take us to the private camp.

Cost : R12 400 per person. Please note: 2 people will share a hut, therefor take this in consideration when making your booking. For two people the price is R12 400 x 2. (Early Birds pay R11 900 per person)

Our hiking journey encompasses conquering three prominent peaks: Lion’s Head, Devil’s Peak, and the iconic Table Mountain, leading to the summit at Maclear’s Beacon and descending via Platteklip Gorge. Each day’s hike concludes with a culinary delight, showcasing the finest cuisine Cape Town has to offer. Additionally, you have the option to partake in optional stretching and conditioning exercises with me before or during the hike.

This hike promises to present a considerable challenge due to its frequent elevation changes throughout each day. However, I assure you that the effort invested will yield significant rewards, coupled with an abundance of enjoyment. If you can comfortably walk for 3 hours, covering distances of 10 to 15 km, while tackling both uphill and downhill stretches, rest assured that you have the capability to conquer this adventure.

Adequate preparation for this walking tour includes being comfortable with both uphill and downhill walking.

Day 1:

  • Check-in at La Splendida Hotel, Mouille Point Cape Town by 14:00 and feel the thrill building up.
  • Late afternoon leisurely walk and sundowners.
  • Discover the vibrant Waterfront, alive with energy. Indulge in a tantalising dinner, savouring diverse culinary delights.

Day 2: Lions Head Summit

  • Fuel up at breakfast, then board the bus to the trailhead.
  • Warm-up and stretch before embarking on a 5.9 km trail with a 392 m elevation. Experience stunning 360° views along the challenging yet manageable hike. Near the summit, brace yourself for a touch of excitement as some rock scrambling and ladder climbing await, but fear not, as alternative paths are available for those who prefer to bypass them due to height concerns.
  • Enjoy optional toning exercises or simply soak in the majestic surroundings while enjoying a well-deserved snack break.
  • For lunch, we make our way to Kloof Street, where culinary delights await to satiate our appetite and recharge our bodies.
  • The afternoon and evening are yours to explore and indulge in the wonders of Cape Town.

Day 3: Devil’s Peak Summit

  • After breakfast, bus takes us to the starting point of our hike.
  • A few toning exercises (optional) with Linda, and a light warm-up stretch.
  • Enjoy a breathtaking, challenging hike up Devil’s Peak. Starting at the beautiful Newlands Forest, summiting Devil’s Peak, and ascend down towards Deer Park. Some steep scrambling. Elevation at the peak is 1000 m.
  • Lunch in Sea Point.
  • Afternoon and evening free for you to explore.
  • Dinner is at your own expense.

Day 4: Table Mountain Summit via Kasteelpoort

  • Begin the day with a satisfying breakfast before boarding the bus to reach the starting point of our hike.
  • Engage in optional toning exercises led by Linda, accompanied by a light warm-up stretch to prepare our bodies.
  • Embark on a challenging adventure as we tackle the strenuous hike. We start by following the Pipe track, then face a steep 2 km ascent up Table Mountain via Kasteelpoort, leading us towards the magnificent Maclears Beacon, the summit of Table Mountain. Our descent takes us through the captivating Platteklip Gorge. The entire journey covers approximately 11 km and takes around 5 to 6 hours. However, for those who prefer, there will be the option to descend via the cable car.
  • Enjoy a light lunch in the heart of Cape Town.
  • As the day draws to a close, prepare for a memorable gala dinner with Linda and Adriaan, where you can indulge in a delightful culinary experience.

Day 5:

Trip Itinerary (subject to change)
  • Day 1: East London Airport transfer  at ±14:00 by shuttle for an estimated 2 hour drive to Seagulls Hotel. Check-in and leisure time or activity (depending on time of arrival). Seafood Fiesta Evening.
  • Day 2: Breakfast. Stretching and toning. Depart Seagulls Hotel for a ±14 km hike to Morgan Bay. This walk will finish before lunchtime. Check-in and have an afternoon of leisure. Canapés and 3 course dinner at Morgan Boy Hotel.
  • Day 3: Breakfast. Stretching and toning. Depart Morgan Bay for a ± 14 km hike to Haga Haga. The 1st 5 km’s is walked along towering granite cliffs where some of the most fantastic views up and down the coast are enjoyed. This walk will finish before lunchtime. Check in at Haga Haga Hotel for the evening, and enjoy a scrumptious 3 course dinner.
  • Day 4: Breakfast. Stretching and toning. Depart for a ± 16.5km hike to Chintsa East.  After leaving Haga Haga there are some rocky sections to a small beach called Pullens Bay. Some 6km along a wavecut platform with wonderful gullies you will reach the beach again at Cape Henderson, passing 3 river estuaries. Your destination on this day is Crawfords Cabins, a private resort in amongst the dunes forest looking out at the Chintsa East Beach. As the sun sets, you’ll indulge in an extraordinary buffet dinner that promises to transport your taste buds to another realm.
  • Day 5: Breakfast. We say goodbye after the transfer to East London Airport. We will be at the airport at ± 12:00

Trip Itinerary (subject to change)

Day 1:

  • Check-in at Franschhoek Protea Hotel by 14:00.
  • Shuttle departure at 15:00 for Stellenbosch.
  • Late afternoon leisurely walk through the town centre of Stellenbosch.
  • Explore Stellenbosch, enjoy a wine tasting, and have our first dinner at an iconic restaurant.
  • Shuttle returns us to Franschhoek Protea Hotel.

Day 2:

  • After breakfast, toning exercises with Linda (optional).
  • Shuttle takes us to Stellenbosch.
  • Embark on a ± 10km walk through Stellenbosch and ascend Stellenbosch Mountain with a 430 metre elevation.
  • Conclude the walk at Coertzenburg for a stretching session.
  • Lunch at Helena’s.
  • Time to relax or further explore Stellenbosch.
  • Shuttle returns us to Franschhoek.
  • Dinner is at your own expense.

Day 3:

  • After breakfast, toning exercises with Linda (optional).
  • Shuttle takes us to a beautiful wine farm in Franschoek.
  • Enjoy a breathtaking 14km walk on the farm, followed by wine tasting and Cheese/Charcuterie platters for lunch.
  • Return to the hotel.
  • Evening free for you to explore Franschhoek.
  • Dinner is at your own expense.

Day 4:

  • After breakfast, toning exercises with Linda (optional).
  • Shuttle takes us to the starting point of our final challenging 12km hike with a 700 metre elevation.
  • Light lunch in Franschhoek.
  • Gala dinner at the award-winning Reuben’s restaurant in Franschhoek.

Day 5:

  • We bid farewell during breakfast and depart for home.

Kom stap saam met my – Linda Kriel – die asemrowende Wildekus in die Oos Kaap, een van die mooiste dele in Suid Afrika. ‘n Lekker aktiewe 4 dae van baie stap, heerlike kos, klein bietjie oefen (die wat wil) en baie lag. Smiddae ontspan ons en geniet die Wildkus-gasvryheid by 4 verskillende kus-hotelle.

Groep: slegs plek vir 16. My stappe is baie gewild en word gewoonlik vinnig volbespreek. Moet dus nie uitmis nie. Bespeek vandag. KLIEK HIER.

Fiksheidsvlak: Jy moet vir ‘n minimum van 3 ure per dag (tussen 12 tot 17 km) per dag, met ‘n paar op- en afdraendes kan stap.

Hotelle: Ons slaap elke aand in ‘n ander kusdorp-hotel. Moenie bekommerd wees nie, ons bagasie word daagliks vervoer en ons stap net met ‘n klein rugsakkie.

Kostes:

  • R14 300 per persoon wat ‘n kamer deel.
  • R2000 ekstra as jy ‘n enkelkamer wil bespreek.

Deposito: 50% deposito betaalbaar onmiddelik, om jou bespreking te verseker.

Balans: betaalbaar 8 weke voor die aanvang van die stap.

Trip Itinerary (subject to change)
  • Day 1: East London Airport transfer  at ±14:00 by shuttle for an estimated 2 hour drive to Seagulls Hotel. Check-in and leisure time or activity (depending on time of arrival).
  • Day 2: Breakfast. Stretching and toning. Depart Seagulls Hotel for a ±14 km hike to Morgan Bay. This walk will finish before lunchtime. Check-in and have an afternoon of leisure or activity (depending on time of arrival).
  • Day 3: Breakfast. Stretching and toning. Depart Morgan Bay for a ± 14 km hike to Haga Haga. The 1st 5 km’s is walked along towering granite cliffs where some of the most fantastic views up and down the coast are enjoyed. This walk will finish before lunchtime. Check in at Haga Haga Hotel for the evening.
  • Day 4: Breakfast. Stretching and toning. Depart for a ± 16.5km hike to Chintsa East.  After leaving Haga Haga there are some rocky sections to a small beach called Pullens Bay. Some 6km along a wavecut platform with wonderful gullies you will reach the beach again at Cape Henderson, passing 3 river estuaries. Your destination on this day is Crawfords Cabins, a private resort in amongst the dunes forest looking out at the Chintsa East Beach.
  • Day 5: Breakfast. We say goodbye after the transfer to East London Airport. We will be at the airport at ± 12:00
