1. Keto/Banting Hot Chocolate

Insane chocolate creaminess in a cup is what we’re offering. Think butter. Think chocolate. Think hints of vanilla. Think pure keto/banting love.

Serving size:

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 28 g (30 ml) unsalted butter
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2½ tsp powdered erythritol or xylitol
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • 240 ml boiling water

  1. Put the ingredients in a tall beaker to use with an immersion blender.
  2. Mix for 15-20 seconds or until there’s a fine foam on top.
  3. Pour the hot cocoa carefully into cups and enjoy.

Tips:

  • If you want to make your hot cocoa even richer, add a dollop of whipped coconut cream before serving. Or whipped heavy cream if you tolerate dairy.
  • Replace the water with full-fat milk for a richer taste. But keep in mind that the carb count will go up about 11 grams per cup.
  • If you want something extra, add a few chocolate shavings or a sprinkle of cinnamon on top!

Substituting ingredients

Use ghee (clarified butter) or coconut oil for a dairy-free option.

Enjoy it right away

This recipe isn’t good for preparing ahead of time. Once chilled, the melted butter will set and separate which will leave you with a grainy mixture.

If this accidentally happens, you can reheat it in a sauce pan over medium heat and then pulse it with an immersion blender until smooth and frothy again.

2) Coffee with Whipped Cream

Prepare for an elevated coffee break. Put whipped cream, with just a touch of vanilla, atop your favourite brew. We’re crushing hard on this keto-approved treat.

Serving size:

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 240 ml coffee
  • 60 ml heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • cocoa powder or ground cinnamon (optional)

  1. Make coffee as usual.
  2. Whip the cream with a little bit of vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  3. Add coffee to a big cup or mug. Add a dollop of cream on top and an optional sprinkling of cocoa powder or cinnamon.
  4. Serve immediately, preferably with a few of your favorite nuts on the side.

Tip:

If you want to transform this drink into a low-carb dessert, just add a small piece of dark chocolate, with a cocoa content of at least 70%, to the bottom of your cup before you add the coffee. By the time you’re finished drinking, you’ll find a delicious piece of melted chocolate. Keep a spoon within reach!

3) Whipped Dairy-free Low Carb (Dalgona) Coffee

Semi-sweet with iced almond milk, this whipped coffee is a low carb version of a popular caffeinated drink. Known as dalgona in Korea, frappe or whipped coffee in Greece, and beaten coffee in India, you’ll soon know it as a quick and refreshing iced coffee treat.

Serving size:

Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 1½ tbsp espresso instant coffee powder
  • 1½ tbsp erythritol or xylitol
  • 2 tbsp hot, or boiled water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 350 ml unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk
  • 120 ml ice cubes

  1. For the whipped topping, use either a whisk, handheld frother, or immersion blender with a whisk attachment (the whipping time will be slightly longer using the first two methods).
  2. Stir together the espresso powder, erythritol, and hot water in a pint-sized glass jar, or a tall, narrow glass.
  3. Insert the immersion blender into the glass, and whisk for about 3 minutes on high speed. As the dark coffee mixture is whipped, it will double in volume and turn into a light brown whipped cream.
  4. Fill a large glass with ice, about ⅔ full. Pour in the almond milk, vanilla extract, and combine.
  5. Spoon the whipped coffee on top, and stir just before serving.

4) Keto Iced Coffee

Serving size:

  • 240 ml coffee
  • 60 ml ice cubes
  • 60 ml heavy whipping cream

  1. Brew the coffee twice as strong as you’d normally make it. Allow it to cool completely.
  2. Fill a large glass with ice cubes. Pour in the coffee and then cream. Serve immediately.

5) Keto Chai latte

Spice up your mug with this warm and fragrant classic. Chai tea, served as a keto style latte, is perfect for the colder months. You’ll love this creamy blend.

Serving size:

Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp chai tea
  • 475 ml water
  • 80 ml heavy whipping cream

Directions

  1. Brew the tea in piping hot water according to instructions on the package. Be sure to let it get as much flavor as possible without turning bitter.
  2. Heat up the cream in the microwave or small saucepan and add to the tea before serving.

6) Dairy-Free Keto Latte

Latte? Yes, please! This dairy-free delight is the perfect on-the-go breakfast. It only takes 5 minutes to make and you’re done. Presto! It’s Keto magic!

Serving size:

Serves 2

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 350 ml coffee, hot
  • 1 pinch vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice or ground ginger

Directions

  1. Blend all ingredients in a blender. You need to be quick so the eggs don’t cook in the boiling water! Drink immediately.

Tip:

Recommended special equipment: Blender or food processor.

7) Keto Coffee with Cream

Yum, yum, yum. Hot coffee with heavy cream will warm you up, down to your toes! Try this in the morning, as a mid-day boost, or as a decadent and creamy keto dessert.

Serving size:

Serves 1

Ingredients

  • 180 ml coffee, brewed the way you like it
  • 60 ml heavy whipping cream

Directions

  1. Make your coffee the way you like it. Pour the cream in a small sauce pan and heat gently while stirring until it’s frothy.
  2. Pour the warm cream in a big cup, add coffee and stir. Serve straight away as is, or with a handful of nuts or a piece of cheese.

Tips:

Flavourful Keto Coffee

Add a piece of dark chocolate, with a minimum of 80% cocoa solids, to your cup of coffee. This way you’ll have a melted little treat waiting by the time you finish your drink. Or try it with cinnamon as a gorgeous and luscious post-meal treat!

Should You Add Butter To Your Keto Coffee?

When frothed or well-blended even a small amount of butter can make coffee more rich and delicious. Add it for a treat if you like, but it’s not necessary for a yummy keto coffee.
